Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 15, 2026

HotSnap is built for temporary presence, not surveillance. We collect as little as we can while still giving you a private space to return to. This policy explains what we store, why we store it, and the control you keep over it. By using HotSnap you agree to the practices described here.

Information We Collect

To run your account we store your sign-in email, a hashed version of your password (never the password itself), your nickname, and the conversations and messages you exchange so you can pick the thread back up. We also record basic technical and usage data — device and browser type, session activity, and IP address — which we use for security, abuse prevention, and keeping the service stable. Where you use the private-photo feature, the images you upload are stored as described below.

How We Use Your Data

We use your data to operate matching and chat, keep your conversations available when you return, process VIP purchases, enforce our safety rules and Terms, prevent fraud and abuse, and respond when you contact support. We do not use your private conversations or photos to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell your personal data.

Payments

VIP and subscription payments are handled by our third-party payment processor. We receive the transaction status, the plan you bought, and the information needed to deliver your purchase — we never receive or store your full card number. Your use of paid features is also governed by our Refund Policy.

Private Photos & User Content

Photos and messages you send are stored so they can be delivered to your chat partner and shown back to you. Private photos are access-controlled and intended only for the conversation you share them in. You are responsible for what you upload: do not share content you do not have the legal right to share, and never upload content involving minors. We may remove content and restrict accounts that violate our rules.

How We Share Data

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers we rely on to operate — such as payment processing and hosting/storage — and only to the extent they need it to perform their work. We may also disclose data where required by law, to respond to valid legal requests, or to protect the safety of our users and the public.

Data Retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain records (for example, to comply with legal, tax, or fraud-prevention obligations). Accounts that stay inactive for an extended period may be removed.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct it, request its deletion, or receive a copy in a portable format. You can also object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, reach us through our contact form using the email address on your account and we'll respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

Cookies & Local Storage

We use cookies and browser storage for essential functions only — keeping you signed in, holding your session, and remembering basic preferences. We do not use third-party advertising trackers. Blocking essential cookies may prevent parts of HotSnap from working.

Children

HotSnap is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn that a minor has created an account, we will remove it and delete the associated data.

Security

We use industry-standard safeguards — including encryption in transit and hashed passwords — to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, so we encourage you to use a strong, unique password and to avoid sharing identifying details in chats.

We may update this policy from time to time; the current version will always live on this page, and we'll revise the “Last updated” date above. Questions? Reach us through our contact form.
